Do Not Pass Go
This week's theme over at Sticky Fingers is Bond and while I have many images of my children with their arms hooked around one another wearing cheesy grins (or standing side by side looking bored and indifferent), I have chosen something else. I know they have a strong bond between them, the family glue which will hopefully last forever; now heading through their teens they are powerful allies for one another. I have a bond with my sisters and will shortly be stepping into my youngest sister's shoes to look after her kids for a few days while she joins her other half in New York.
For this week I've chosen a snap of my youngest playing Monopoly on one of our youth hostelling trips to Boscastle - Bond Street being the tenuous link to this week's Gallery. We have various versions of Monopoly in the house: a Simpsons one, an electronic one with a debit cards and my favourite, a vintage game from the 1970's. While my kids certainly bond over the Xbox, they still enjoy a competitive game of Monopoly.

Original take on the theme! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteMonopoly gets very competitive in our house.
ReplyDeleteThisdayilove
Yes, it does here too.
DeleteHehe - love the take, very different. I used to get SO competitive in Monopoly when I was little. And it was like a big achievment to see Bond st in real life when I was older!
ReplyDeleteI remember being wowed by Mayfair in real life.
DeleteLove the look of determination on his face... Great take on the theme! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI love Monopoly!
ReplyDeleteIt's still such a popular family game.
DeleteWe love Monopoly too, a classis! We have the board game versions and the wii game! x
ReplyDeleteAnother Monopoly fan!
DeleteDo you have the dice version 'Monopoly Express'? Not bad if you want a speedy game. Sadly, Ben's now at that age where killing zombies on x-box is more compelling, but he'll occasionally indulge me in a game of Monopoly or Game of Life...
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine a speedy game of Monopoly. When I used to play it as a child we would leave it overnight and pick up the game again in the morning. Don't worry, the boys love killing zombies too.
DeleteOoh! Clever! I'm afraid I wasn't nearly that witty. Great picture too - we've just started board games with our lot. Can't say I'm looking forward to the Monopoly tantrums in due course (I'm a VERY bad loser!)
ReplyDeleteJust wait to be thrashed by your competitive kids!
DeleteMonopoly's a great way for families to bond (assuming they're not mega competitive like my brother & I were when it came to money games!). Looking forward to playing it when my son's older
ReplyDeleteI suppose it's the one game where 'Greed is Good' and yes, board games are a good way to spend time together.
DeleteMonopoly is very competitive and Daddy always seems to win - I am hoping my boys will start a winning streak soon!
ReplyDeleteI hope you're not letting him win! I'm sure your boys will beat him soon.
